Love You More

This book was provided to me by Thomas Nelson. It is a complimentary copy of this book.

When I first decided to give Love You More a whirl, I had high hopes for it. As a parent, I figured it would be something I could relate to, even though I haven't adopted. However, there were times when I was sorely disappointed.

Jennifer Grant is a good writer and all, but as I got farther and farther into this story of how she came to adopt her Guatamalan daughter, I was annoyed and frustrated by some of the things she was 'saying'.

Like the time when she claimed another student's mother was a deadbeat because she sent in store-bought desserts for a party. Or the moment where she felt the need to change the clothes of the little girl she was adopting because they weren't what she pictured.

It just seemed like she was becoming increasingly egotistical and acting like she was the best mother in the world, wheras everyone else didn't even come close. People like that make me angry and I seriously wanted to punch her in the face.

Overall, the book was interesting and insightful about adoption, but Jennifer Grant really needs to learn how to be a more appropriate person. Pride is one thing, but she has taken it way too far.

Same Kind of Different As Me

This book was provided to me by Thomas Nelson. It is a complimentary copy of this book.

This was a very inspiring book. I enjoyed it quite a bit and was tempted to keep it, but I finally decided I wanted to share it with others so they could feel the influence this book provides.

This is the basic plot: A dangerous, homeless drifter who grew up picking cotton in virtual slavery. An upscale art dealer accustomed to the world of Armani and Chanel. A gutsy woman with a stubborn dream. A story so incredible no novelist would dare dream it. — It begins outside a burning plantation hut in Louisiana . . . and an East Texas honky-tonk . . . and, without a doubt, in the heart of God. It unfolds in a Hollywood hacienda . . . an upscale New York gallery . . . a downtown dumpster . . . a Texas ranch.

Gritty with pain and betrayal and brutality, this true story also shines with an unexpected, life-changing love.

It is a very good book and I would suggest it to anyone who wants to feel inspired.

The Heart Mender - Andy Andrews

This book was provided to me by Thomas Nelson. It is a complimentary copy of this book.

I really wanted to like this book. I truly did. However, it just starts out way too slow and continues to drag on. I had a really hard time finishing it and I was left feeling unfulfilled and disappointed.

The Heart Mender is a story of second chances. It takes place during World War II and involves a widowed woman named Helen and a German soldier named Josef. I did enjoy the characters, but the story just wasn't as good as I had hoped. Definitely a disappointment to me.

Never Let You Go - Erin Healy

This book was provided to me by Thomas Nelson. It is a complimentary copy of this book.

Never Let You Go is the first book I've ever read by Erin Healy. After reading the synopsis of the book, I thought I'd give this one a chance, even though I'm not big on fiction with religious themes and undertones. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.

The book does feel a little preachy at certain points, but it's never over the top or so annoying that you want to stop reading. I did enjoy the supernatural element more than anything else, being a fan of horror and thriller type novels.

Lexi and her daughter Molly have gone seven years without Grant, the husband and father who walked out of their lives one day, never to be seen or heard from again...until one day when that all changes.

Bad people from Lexi's past have returned and one of them wants to make her daughter pay for her sins. Will she have the faith to make it through the harrowing ordeal? Just read it and find out.

Saint Patrick

This book was provided to me byThomas Nelson. It is a complimentary copy of this book.

Saint Patrick is a short book, but it's also pretty interesting. It's basically the life story of Saint Patrick and I actually found it fascinating.

Saint Patrick was sold into slavery as a teenager and worked as a shepherd. Eventually he escaped and made it back home. Once home, he began ministering and baptizing thousands of people.

This book tells the story of how Saint Patrick overcame his terrible situation as a slave and became a brave soul who was able to heed the call of God and help many others.

Not exactly the type of book I'd read again, but it was definitely an interesting read.

The Map by David Murrow

This book was provided to me byThomas Nelson. It is a complimentary copy of this book.

I read this book out of pure curiosity. I'm not really a religious person, nor do I read things with religious themes. Sadly, I couldn't even get into this book and it took me forever to finish it. Absolutely boring to me and provided me no insight into anything. Now I know why I don't read stuff like this.

They were trying to find The Map that was thought to be an old parchment paper but what they found out was something entirely different. The Map was in the Bible and David was shown where in a basement of an old monastery.

This book The Map teaches about how Jesus walked and how men in our own day should follow Him.

I found it to be monotonous and I just didn't like this book at all.

The Farm - Scott Nicholson

This book was my first by this author, and even though it was decent, I just wasn't very excited about it. Typical horror cliches can be found in this book. I think the only thing that scared me about this was my fear of goats(childhood incident that traumatized me). There are some scenes with goats and other farm animals and that bothered me/creeped me out more than anything. Decent book, but not my cup of tea.
