I really wanted to like this book. I truly did. However, it just starts out way too slow and continues to drag on. I had a really hard time finishing it and I was left feeling unfulfilled and disappointed.
The Heart Mender is a story of second chances. It takes place during World War II and involves a widowed woman named Helen and a German soldier named Josef. I did enjoy the characters, but the story just wasn't as good as I had hoped. Definitely a disappointment to me.
